With over 150 years of combined team experience and advisory work spanning 1,200+ properties across more than 100 countries, HOTELkonzept specializes in concept development, revenue management, storytelling, and guest experience design for independent 4- and 5-star hotels.

Helmut Clemens — Founder & Managing Director

Helmut Clemens is a German-born hotelier with over 30 years of experience in luxury boutique hospitality. Based in Palma de Mallorca, he has led hotel projects across Europe and Latin America. He speaks English, French, Spanish, German, and Catalan.

Through HOTELkonzept, Helmut has advised on more than 1,200 properties in over 100 countries. His approach is concept-first: every project begins with the question of what makes a place, its culture, and its heritage worth experiencing — and how to translate that into a hotel that guests remember and return to.

HOTELkonzept is currently expanding into the Central Asian and Silk Road hospitality markets, with a focus on Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan — regions undergoing a significant transformation in luxury and boutique hotel development.

Helmut Clemens

Hotelier

Managing Director of HOTELkonzept. Based out of Palma de Mallorca, Helmut is a passionate hotelier with over 25 years of experience in the boutique hotel universe. After obtaining his hotel management diploma “cum laude” at the prestigious Centre International de Glion, Switzerland, (today …..), Helmut has managed several of the best boutique hoteles in the Mediterranean and in Latin America prior to starting his consulting business in 2004; hotels that today are part of Relais & Châteaux, Virgin Hotels, Belmond or Four Seaons. During his hotel management time his responsibilities included budgeting, planning, the creation and management of teams, the setting and implementaron of service and product standards. Helmut has developed sales and marketing strategies for existing hotels as well as hotel projects. He has created social events and is enthusiastic about exquisite food and wine and excellent hostmanship.

 
During his 20 years of boutique hotel and gastronomic consultancy Helmut has personal analyzed over 1.200 of the very best boutique hotels and restaurants in over 100 countries. He created hotel and restaurant concepts that exude sense- and taste-of-place, ensuring these concepts turn into catalysts for their respective natural environment and cultural heritage, creating a positive impact in their social, natural and economic surroundings. Authenticity is his leitmotiv through which he not only ensures projects become economically profitable but also socially and environmentally sustainable.

Daniel Isern

Architect

Daniel studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow), and earned his postgraduate degree in building rehabilitation at UPC. Since 1999 he has practised as an architect at major architecture firms in the role of project director. In 2011 he founded Isern Associats, his own architectural practice.

Since 2015 he has directed the postgraduate course in hotel planning at the Catalan Association of Architects. He has lectured widely on lighting design, architecture, and hotel planning in a range of academic settings.

Since 2020 he has directed the Hotel Health Project on the mechanisation of hotels at Escola Sert–Hospital Clínic.

Daniel has received numerous awards, including the WAN Award 2017 and the Catalonia Construction Award 2018 for the Hotel Ohla project in Barcelona, and the WAN Award 2015 for a single-family home in Sant Pol de Mar.

Daniel is a passionate rower and competes regularly in national and international championships. He is also an avid hiker and a lover of the arts in all their forms.

Dr. Joan Enric Capellá i Cervera

Hotelier

Holding a Master’s degree in Tourism Management from Victoria University of Wellington and a Ph.D. in Tourism Geography from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Joan Enric transitioned from academia to the business world. He gained valuable
experience working for multinational companies such as Iberostar, Orizonia Corporación, and Grupo Piñero before embarking on his entrepreneurial journey, establishing his own hotel chain, Som Hotels. Starting from scratch, this project expanded to manage
up to 13 hotels in Mallorca. Unfortunately, coinciding with the onset of the Covid-19 crisis, this venture had to be closed down. 

Since then, Joan Enric has remained actively involved in hotel and tourism consultancy, fuelled by his deep passion for the industry.
Notably, he has recently published a book on the evolution of tourism in Mallorca.

Gory Martinez

F&B Specialist

Gory, based out of Palma de Mallorca, is passionate about luxury hospitality with the firm objective of exceeding customer expectations through excellence while focusing on the profitability of the business and the team’s motivation. The success of his work consists in surrounding himself with the best and letting them do after having applied his three fundamentals: training, training and training. He has specialised in food and beverage operations during his professional career spanning from Rosewood to Marriott, Hospes and Bahia Principe and from Baja California to Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Germany and Spain. Gory has got a special ease for detecting additional potential and implementing those procedures and standards necessary to capture all that additional potential.

Nadia Gallo

Sales

Nadia, based in Madrid, specializes in offline sales of luxury hotels, with over two decades of experience in resorts and boutique hotels across Europe. As an independent consultant specializing in Sales & Marketing, she has focused on the Leisure and MICE segments, establishing strategic relationships with travel agencies, tour operators, and DMCs to drive sales and successfully
position various hotels as industry leaders. Her education at Les Roches and her experience at hotels such as Finca Cortesín and Marbella Club, as well as her collaborations with hotel chains like Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons, support her career in such a specific hotel sector as luxury. Nadia feels fortunate to work in what she loves and carries out her work with passion, as this luxury segment is highly personalized.

Kathleen Duda

Comunicación & Marketing

Based out of New York, Kathleen’s work and lust for travel, art and culture has brought her to the far corners of the globe. She loves discovering new food, wine and music. She is a storyteller at heart and enjoys meeting new people in a random way, often dining at the bar rather than a table – a very NYC thing to do.
Kathleen’s expertise includes developing brand strategies for a wide range of products including hospitality, real estate and international destinations. She gained expertise in a wide range of industries that overlap with lifestyle products and services that were part of her earlier career experience. With that she brings an understanding to her clients in an arena defined by style, aesthetics and caché.

Luciano Taborda

Revenue Management

Luciano, based in Palma de Mallorca, has been in the hotel industry for over twenty years, where he has excelled and continues to excel in commercial vision and strategy. For fifteen years Luciano has been instrumental in developing commercial and particularly revenue management strategies that have enabled clients such as Barceló Hotel Group, THR Hotels, Senses Hotels, among others, to optimise their corporate revenues and develop new business.

 
Luciano combines his solid background with years of experience, strategic innovation and continuous training to be up to date with
the latest and best IT solutions, fundamental for his revenue management work. Since 2019 Luciano has been helping independent
hotels implement successful, innovative and sustainable revenue management strategies, achieving enviable results.

Eugenia Cusí

Corporate Governance

Industrial Engineer specialising in Organisation (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and MBA (ESADE), Eugenia began her career in a multinational hotel company, working in the areas of Human Resources, Quality, Innovation and Knowledge Management. She has
been General Manager of a restaurant group operating 13 locations, promoting the professionalisation of operations while maintaining the interests of the property. As an organisation and people development consultant, she has helped SMEs and NGOs to enhance the value of their teams and their culture, seeking the optimal role where each collaborator performs best given their talents. She incorporates the perspective of good corporate governance as a tool capable of sustainably combining the interests
of all stakeholders.

 
Eugenia is a golfer, passionate about the sea, a mother, and since 2006 she has dedicated her energy to accompanying children and adolescents as life learners, contributing to their self-knowledge, self-confidence and self-esteem.
